PRBB Ciutadella (BIST)

Concept and detailed design for the new PRBB Ciutadella campus (formerly known as the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology – BIST), designed by the architecture studio Barozzi Veiga. The new building is defined by a series of open and transparent spaces aimed at creating connections between the more than 500 researchers the BIST will host and the city of Barcelona.

BIST is the first project of the Ciutadella of Knowledge initiative, a research and innovation hub located at the site of the former Mercat del Peix, adjacent to Ciutadella Park, and one of the most significant urban transformation initiatives in the city of Barcelona.

Environmental Licence Project demonstrating full compliance with environmental regulations and accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

Annexed Fire Protection Project demonstrating compliance with fire safety regulations (compartmentalisation, evacuation, fire protection systems, firefighter accessibility, structural fire resistance, etc.).
