Ignasi Llordés wins a technical award at the IV National Congress of Installation Engineering of the ACI

The recognition of Young Talents heads a participation also focused on historic buildings, climate shelters and technologies for the energy transition.

Wattega has participated in the IV National Congress of Installation Engineering, organized by the ACI Association of Installation Consultants, with contributions from seven professionals in four technical sessions. The main recognition has been the first prize awarded to Ignasi Llordés Pavón in the “Best Technical Content” category, within the Young Talents space. The participation has also dealt with the rehabilitation of historic buildings, climate shelters, decarbonization, resilience and energy transition, during the 2026 edition.

An award for technical content and young talent

Ignasi Llordés Pavón , project engineer at Wattega, presented to Jóvenes Talentos the rehabilitation of the Pavelló de la Puríssima, in the Historic Site of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. The activity gives visibility to the young talent of the associated companies and allows the presentation of real facilities engineering projects.

The presentation won first prize in the “Best Technical Content” category of the first edition of the “Premios Jóvenes Talentos” by Daikin AC Spain, S.A. The project addresses how to incorporate comfort and energy efficiency into a heritage building without altering its architectural interpretation. The presentation highlighted geothermal production, the location of the equipment in barely visible technical spaces and the use of existing routes to integrate the installations.

New installations in historic buildings

Eric Ruiz, Project Manager at Wattega, spoke at the round table “New energies in historic buildings” . The session proposed a dialogue between architecture and engineering on the implementation of energy systems in heritage buildings.

The debate included the alternatives studied, the decision criteria, regulatory compliance and the tensions between technical needs and architectural preservation. The common framework was to achieve comfort, energy efficiency and sustainability while respecting the historical value of the buildings.

Equipment ready to face the heat

Carla Garcia, sustainability consultant, and Ivan Capdevila, director of Energy and Sustainability, were part of the session “The equipment as climate shelters: renovation and reconfiguration of buildings to adapt them to climate change” .

Garcia gave the introductory talk on climate adaptation in the face of rising temperatures. The session combined three talks with a co-creation workshop on the renovation of existing facilities, with special attention to energy and water installations. The session applied a collaborative methodology to different types of public buildings to generate innovative and applicable actions.

Technologies for a more flexible energy system

Manuel Marín, Project Manager of Technical Consulting, and Joel Nadal, Innovation technician, participated in “Innovative technologies for decarbonization, resilience and energy transition” . The session organized the challenges of the sector into three vectors: electrification of production, flexibility of demand and deployment of energy storage.

Among the technologies discussed were fifth-generation district networks, which connect buildings capable of consuming, producing, recovering or storing energy, and thermal storage, which allows its use to be shifted over time. Flexible demand management through digitalization and control was also addressed.

The four participations brought together different dimensions of facilities engineering: young talent, heritage rehabilitation, climate adaptation and energy innovation.
