Energy Monitoring of 34 Municipal Buildings in Rubí
Rubí Leads by Example, Reducing Energy Use and Public Expenditure
Background
In 2018, the City Council of Rubí completed the integration of energy consumption monitoring across its 34 main municipal buildings into the DEXCell Energy Manager platform, with the support of ERF. Within the framework of the Rubí Brilla initiative, the City Council promotes energy monitoring as a key tool for control and optimisation, with the objective of reducing energy consumption and operational expenditure across municipal buildings — while leading by example in sustainability.
Results
The monitoring platform covers 120 metering points for electricity, natural gas, and water. It enables the automatic collection of consumption data from on-site meters, followed by advanced analysis, overconsumption alerts, and the generation of periodic performance and tracking reports.
Since autumn 2018, the monitoring system has also incorporated photovoltaic production data from five municipal facilities.
Through the DEXCell Solar View application, the City Council can:
- Monitor solar generation
- Perform detailed energy balance analysis against building consumption (hourly, daily, monthly, and annually)
- Measure levels of on-site self-consumption
- Analyse photovoltaic system performance in real time
